Group Lessons
Explore the Japanese language and learn to speak in a friendly and fun group lesson!
All classes run with a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 10.
A new Absolute Beginners Evening class will be starting in January 2026 on Wednesdays.
If you are interested in joining the group, please feel free to contact me. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
My teaching style
The lessons are carried out mainly in Japanese to maximise exposure in the classroom and that helps develop the understanding of the language.
Students are also expected to learn KANA script (Hiragana and Katakana) almost straight away as I believe it is the quickest way to learn the proper pronunciation and Reading and Writing skills.
In class, you will learn all skills through fun and interactive communicative activities. Though my main focus is Speaking, Listening and Reading. I use various types of materials, such as PowerPoint, PDFs, YouTube videos, Quizlet, Kahoot!, Jamboard etc, and I share those on my screen to do games and various exercises.
I also teach Japanese culture and customs along with the language as they are deeply connected to each other! Students will learn through quizzes that I created for fun learning!
I have main textbooks that I follow as my syllabus, but I use them mainly for homework and practice Reading and Speaking using pictures and translation from English to Japanese. It is also used to assess students how well they understood each subject.
Students also do group and pair work in Breakout Rooms (individual separate Zoom Room) to practice sentence patterns they have just learned.
You will need a larger screen device such as a PC or tablet, but not a smartphone as I’ll share my screen and show slides during the class.
All lessons are recorded, and students will get access to the recordings, so you can review them and practice at home.
Textbooks
It is now online, I use some free digital online textbooks and materials as well as many main physical textbooks, such as “Minna no Nihongo + it’s Grammar book, Genki, Irodori and Marugoto etc.) You will receive all the PDFs used in class, and available on request for other materials for free, some are created by me! after each lesson for you to keep and print at home if you wish to use them at home.
Extra-study at home
I set weekly homework – usually 1 or 2 exercises such as online quizzes, watching videos, or worksheets. I recommend that students at all levels find 20 minutes, 5 times a week, for self-study and language practice.
